I never understood why Quebec, that is so close to the US of A, can be so different car-wise. A majority of people can (I said ''can'', not ''do'') drive stick.
This is a screenshot a just taken from a popular used-car website, in the ''refine search'' thing. We can see that about 30% of used cars (on this website) are indeed manuals.
Not to be bragging or anything, just for your info.

Probably because they like to think they're European. They're the only hockey fans in the NHL that actually do the OLE chant.
And it's annoying as fuck.

I'm actually surprised, I tought the ratio would've been like 95% manuals!

A large portion of the population lives in or around the Montreal metropolitan area (I think 1.5 million of the 7-8 million inhabitants). The streets are small and as a result, the cars are, too.
In and around the city there is good public transport, which is well-used, so cars are an occasional tool for many residents. In this case, a small car that's easy to park and cheap to buy fits the bill perfectly.

We're cheap and don't want to pay for auto, what can I tell you!
Also, we are the only province where the best-selling vehicle is not the F-150 (it's the Civic, but that's better than nothing).
